Winnipeg firefighters have a $27 million liability in unpaid sick leave, all of which can be collected when firefighters retire. Already this costs Winnipeg taxpayers $2 million annually. Prairie Director Colin Craig calls on the City of Winnipeg to take out this provision. The city is currently negotiating a new contract with firefighters, since the old one expired on December 31.
